What is a Biomechanical Assessment?

To pinpoint exactly what has caused your sports injury, we’ll conduct a biomechanical assessment to start with. This investigation looks at a number of things, including your natural movements, muscle balance, and alignment.

By doing this, it allows us to understand the underlying cause of your injury and what treatment is required to rectify it. Without finding the cause of the issue it’s highly likely this problem will recur or persist.

What is Myofascial Release?

One of our preferred techniques is myofascial release which targets muscle shortness and tightness. It improves blood circulation, relaxes contracted muscles, and simulates your muscles’ natural stretch reflex.

This helps restore function and flexibility following your injury.

What Techniques Do We Use?

As well as conducting a biomechanical assessment and carrying out myofascial release, we also use the following core techniques:

Core Stabilization Training: To make sure your spine’s receiving all the support it needs, these exercises build up the muscles in your core and strengthens them.

Manual Therapy: In order to alleviate the pain caused by your injury, we’ll apply pressure using our hands, targeting problem joints and muscles.

Graston Technique: Used for acute or chronic soft tissue injuries, this technique works to remobilize tissues and muscle fibers while also breaking down scar tissue.

Gait Analysis: This investigates your natural “gait,” aka your natural movement when you walk/run. Investigating this allows us to put preventative measures in place so your injury doesn’t reoccur – i.e. advising the best footwear for running/walking.

Exercise Therapy: To further aid your recovery, we’ll recommend a regimen of exercises that you can follow at home.

We may also use active therapy, Kinesio taping, neuromuscular reeducation, and ergonomic training.

Don’t put off treating your sports injury, regardless of whether it’s new or old, and book sports injury treatment in North Texas today.
